About Breathworks

Breathworks is a mindfulness organisation and registered charity based in the United Kingdom. Founded in 2001, Breathworks was a seed from which Vidyamala hoped to realise her vision of helping people living with pain and illness.

Along with co-founders and experienced mindfulness teachers Sona Fricker and Gary Hennessey, Vidyamala developed Breathworks’ core Mindfulness for Health, Mindfulness for Stress and Teacher Training programmes. The Breathworks' Mindfulness-based Pain Management (MBPM) programme has been supported by research and is recognised by the NHS and health boards globally.

Over the years, Breathworks has grown to become a flourishing and dynamic international organisation that has reached over 100,000 people around the world and trained over 600 teachers in 35 countries.

Keenly aware that it is the people who are most in need of mindfulness training who are least able to access it, Breathworks operates as a charity and raises funds to invest in course bursaries, research and partnerships to remove barriers to taking part in its courses and trainings.
